In a True Orthophoto, streets and other features surrounding buildings are clearly visible
In addition to basic orthorectification of imagery Bureau Stephan is able to offer 'true Orthophotos' as a final deliverable.
Standard orthophoto rectification corrects relief displacement in ground level features, above ground features, such as the tops of buildings and bridges, aren’t normally corrected because they are not modeled in the digital terrain model (DTM). In the final orthophoto, these features appear distorted in the form of building lean and warped bridges. In severe cases, the distortion can impact the usefulness of the imagery as many ground features may be obscured.
In a True Orthophoto, streets and other features surrounding buildings are clearly visible. Bureau Stephan has proprietary software and procedures to create True Orthos from non-metric UAV imagery, resulting in more cadastral information than can be captured from standard digital orthophotos.
Advantages of a True Orthophoto:
- Increases visibility of roads, street furniture, utility poles, etc.
- Removes building lean
- Corrects distortion of obscured features
